9/24 WEBINAR: We think we're talking about race. But are we?

Most caregivers know that raising kids with healthy racial attitudes means having real, regular conversations about race — and about the racial inequities kids are absorbing all around them.

But knowing you should talk about race with kids and actually doing it are two different things. Many caregivers who believe these conversations matter still don't have them. They often say they don't know how.

And here's a surprising twist: among caregivers who say they do talk to kids about race, a large subset of them are actually using egalitarian language - "Everybody's equal," "Everybody's the same on the inside" - instead of talking about race. White parents surveyed are particularly likely to use "color-blind" language but they are not alone.
