Kareem Eduoard

Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences and STEM Education at Drexel University's School of Education

Kareem Edouard

Dr. Kareem Edouard is Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences and STEM Education at Drexel University's School of Education. He directs the ILLEST Lab, an informal STEM environment focused on supporting STEM career pathways for youth. His work centers on representation for Black children, particularly Black boys, in children's media. He studies how early childhood media shapes representation and bias. His research shows how algorithmic bias disrupts Black students' ability to ideate and create with AI tools.

Dr. Edouard is also a children's media producer and showrunner. He is Executive Producer and showrunner for the live action MayNERD's Wild World of Science on YouTube Kids. He is showrunner and Executive Producer for the animated Stuntboy series. He is producer for PBS's Work It Out Wombats! Each project carries his research into stories that reflect and affirm the children watching them.

His scholarship starts with Welcome Home: Positive Affective Cultural Experiences and the Proleptic Promise of Belonging in Informal STEM With Black Boys, published in Science Education and grounded in homeplace theory. It also includes Black Prompts not Included: AI Bias Impeding Real Time Co Creative Ideation in Black Students' Conceptual Design, Black Children at Play: The Cultural Practices of the ILLEST Lab, and Show Up and Show Out, Young Homie. He has written for Successful Black Parenting Magazine as well.

Across his research and production credits, one throughline holds. He designs educational futures, on screen and in the lab, where technology and media expand Black children's potential instead of limiting it. Representation is the constant. His work asks what it takes for Black children to see themselves fully.
