EmbraceRace was founded in early 2016 by two co-parents. From the start, the EmbraceRace community has been supported by a wonderful national advisory group and a dedicated team of consultants and contributors. And as of 2021, we are delighted to have a growing (small but mighty!) staff as well.
Andrew Grant-Thomas, who is Black, and Melissa Giraud, who is multiracial, started the nonprofit when they found few resources to help them talk with their young daughters about race.
In 2016, Melissa Giraud and Andrew Grant-Thomas created EmbraceRace, an online collection of resources for parents, educators and kids that has grown into a community of people who care about race, justice and the future of our democracy.
EmbraceRace is your community of support for raising kids (of all colors) who are inclusive, thoughtful and brave about race. Participate and learn with this community today!
