Graham Griffith (gg)

Graham Griffith (gg) is many things. For one, he is the reason the EmbraceRace Podcast exists. He saw it before we did and got us all into gear to make it happen. We are so grateful. End of our pop-up editorial and back to his official bio!

Graham Griffith is a media strategist and career audio producer with a track record of creating programming that responds to the changing media landscape. From launching Rhode Island’s first public radio program in 2000, to creating the award-winning, national talk show On Point after the 9-11 attacks, and launching The Takeaway. He was also part of the team that developed Sound Up, Spotify's effort to support more creators from communities historically underrepresented in media.

Graham has developed a unique perspective on podcasting and radio specifically, and journalism in general. He has also worked with independent media organizations on new media initiatives and in building stronger journalistic practices. Current and recent clients include the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), Embrace Race, On Point, On Being, Fresh Air, Spotify, Transitions OnLine (TOL), Futuro Media, Gimlet Media, Princeton University, and The Conversation US. His efforts are focused on capacity-building and user-centered design within organizations that recognize the importance of quality, independent media to building stronger civic society.

Graham is currently based at the Center for the Study of Democracy in Bulgaria, with support from the US Fulbright Program. His work at the Center is focused on encouraging global media to connect with Balkan experts, as those of us in the West have ignored the deep knowledge of scholars in New Europe, at our own peril. Check out his Notes from New Europe substack.
